I am researching feminism in Poland right now for my residency in November. It is not surprising that feminism is treated with suspicion over there as its values are very similar to old communist structures. Men and women were considered equal as every person was needed for the work force. Gender was not a dividing factor as the individual body was not deemed important to the mass work force. It is going to be a challenge to go over there with my very oh- so- western feminist ideas, and I am excited to see how they are received.
